CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy)

Developed from the work of psychiatrist Aaron Beck and psychologist Albert Ellis to find a practical alternative to Freudian psychoanalysis. The therapy that grew out of their work is now becoming the therapy of choice in the NHS. It has a great deal in common with the underlying beliefs in NLP Presuppositions.

The core of CBT is to encourage people to take responsibility for their thinking and therefore their state of mind. It questions how the thoughts and triggers in the environment create the feelings, which generate physical reactions and symptoms leading to behaviours. Realistic outcomes are agreed with a clarification of how the client experiences the problem and what they do. Unrealistic or irrational thoughts and goals are reframed into rational ones. It is evidence based that CBT is 70% more effective when combined with Hypnotherapy.
